GRiZ Announces Fifth Annual 12 Days of GRiZMAS

Detroit Charity Event Series In Support of Detroit Public Schools

Electronic music producer and multi-instrumentalist GRiZ announces his fifth annual 12 Days of GRiZMAS charity event series. A staple in the Detroit holiday season, the 12-day fundraiser offers a series of events with a focus on charity and giving back to the city that raised him, all leading up to the fan-favorite back-to-back shows at Detroit’s Masonic Temple. This news follows shortly after GRiZ’s return to social media, as well as the release of two new singles––one that Grant raps on himself and another with a massive feature from GRAMMY-nominated singer and rapper DRAM.

Billboard

“The multi-faceted talent gives us a delicious, feel-good D.R.A.M. collaboration and a solo single featuring his first-ever rap verses. It's the first new music from GRiZ in more than a year, but we happen to know there's plenty more where these come from. Fans won't be disappointed.”

“An unexpected pairing, the DJ/electronic producer and the soulful singer connect sounds through a simple, singular message — love and positivity.”

This year’s activities will include a Holiday Pop-Up Shop (the GRiZMAS Workshop), Caroling, Community Volunteering, Yoga, a Local Mic Night, Roller Disco, a Barcade and more. Following the tradition that 2017 set in place, night one at the Masonic Temple will mark the return of the 15 piece-live band that GRiZ debuted at Red Rocks in September of 2017.

Music saved his life, but Detroit built him. Growing up learning music within the progressive container of Detroit’s music scene shaped him, so as a continuation of his roots, he’s dedicated his last five holiday seasons to help kids in the city flourish as he did. This year’s focus of the 12 Days of GRiZMAS builds on past efforts to continue raising funds to increase access to music education for Detroit's youth. It is this “for Detroit, by Detroit” ethos that has given the holiday series a genuine reputation for bringing positivity and love to one of the city’s most deserving communities.

Operating from 10:00am - 6:00pm everyday of his 12 Days program, the GRiZMAS Workshop acts as a hub for hosting engaging community events like arts and crafts for kids, an ongoing coat drive, and of course spreading the holiday cheer. Last year, the charity received hundreds of donated coats, warm winter accessories and toys which went to St. Vincent de Paul of Southeast Michigan who provides critical support to those in need. Online donations are taken throughout the entire month of December at www.12daysofGRIZMAS.com where you can find more information about each event.
